High School Program First Annual Holiday Festival and Bazaar
The After School Program!
This school year, the program will be through the 21st Century Program. The program is open to students in kindergarten through 8th grade and starts Sept. 17. Register by calling 563-3476. Seashore will only be offering the High School After School Program.
A large part of the Literacy Center has become the After School Program. Monday through Friday Crestview Heights students are bused to the Literacy Center from school. The program runs from 3:30 to 5:30. A grant has allowed for a bus to take the students home at the end of the day. The students first enjoy a healthy snack and then recess until 3:45pm. Homework is top priority and there are dedicated volunteers on hand to assist students. At 4:25pm, students, who have completed their homework, transition into activities provided by the 21st Century Program that is funded by a national grant. Activities have included cooking, science, forensic science, gardening, wood art, and drama.
Every Friday, Oregon Coast Therapy Animals comes to the Center. Students read to the therapy dogs and gain more confidence in there reading skills. Click here to view the Oregon Coast Therapy Animals website and some pictures.
The After School children also enjoy field trips to places like OMSI and the aquatic center in Corvallis. In the Spring of 2007, Seashore students enjoyed a Spring Break Day Camp that included field trips to the beach, the museum, and the fire department. Students also enjoyed daily science lessons from Seashore's "Science Guy" Harold Clark and experimented with Alka-Seltzer rockets and paper airplanes.
The summer brings the annual "Summer to Remember" Day Camp and many other activities including a free lunch provided Monday through Friday at 12pm.
Volunteers are always needed to help students with homework. Donations of school supplies are also helpful.
